How to turn on the Valorant FPS Counter?
Valorant, one of the world’s most popular online shooter games, makes it easy for users to view FPS (Frames Per Second). This term, which refers to the number of frames displayed per second, is an important measure of the performance of games on a PC. The higher the FPS, the smoother the gaming experience.
Using the best graphics settings to achieve a high FPS is especially important in Valorant because it can directly affect your performance against other players. In this guide, we’ll show you how to turn on the Valorant FPS counter to see how your game is performing in real time.
How do I view FPS in Valorant?
Valorant has a native FPS counter that is disabled by default in the video settings. Follow these steps to enable it:
Launch Valorant and go to the main menu.
Click on the Settings icon in the top right corner.
Once in the settings menu, navigate to the ‘Video’ tab at the top of the screen.
Go to the Stats tab to see a full list of metrics that can be displayed.
At the top of the list is ‘Client FPS’, which is the Valorant FPS counter. You can choose to view the FPS as text, graph or both.
Close the settings menu. If you selected ‘Text Only’, your FPS will be displayed in the top left corner of the screen. If you selected the Graph option, it will appear on the right.
The ‘Stats’ section of Valorant’s video settings also allows players to view other metrics such as server tick rate, total frame render time, idle time, CPU (game) time, GPU time, physical memory used and network latency. Be sure to select the combination of performance metrics that best suits your needs, as cluttering your screen with unnecessary information can lead to visual clutter.
Other ways to view FPS in Valorant
In addition to the built-in FPS display in Valorant, you can use NVIDIA and AMD graphics card software, such as GeForce Experience and Radeon Metrics, to display FPS.
NVIDIA GeForce Experience
Right-click on your desktop or search for GeForce Experience in the Windows search bar.
Click the Settings icon in the top right corner and go to the General tab.
Enable ‘In-Game Overlay’ and click ‘Settings’ for further customisation.
To view all available metrics and customisation options, select ‘HUD Layout’ and then ‘Performance’.
In-game, the GeForce Experience Overlay can be toggled on and off using the Alt+R shortcut.
AMD Radeon Metrics
Right-click on your desktop or use the Windows search bar to find AMD software.
Once open, click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the application.
Find the ‘Preferences’ tab and enable ‘In-Game Overlay’.
Go to the ‘Performance’ tab at the top of the screen and click ‘Overlay’ on the right. From the Overlay menu, you can select the performance metrics you want to display, along with customisation options such as size, colour and position.
These tools provide additional ways to monitor and optimise your gaming performance, enhancing your Valorant experience by ensuring you’re always aware of how your system is handling the game.
