New Update for Valorant: Icebox Map Coming to Console

September 25, 2024

Riot Games has recently released a significant update to Valorant, following its expansion into open beta on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Patch 9.2 not only brings updates to both console and PC platforms, but also introduces key gameplay enhancements and penalties for disruptive player behaviour.

Key updates in patch 9.2:

Enhanced player behaviour penalties
The update introduces stricter penalties for players who abuse the chat feature. This move is intended to improve the overall game environment and ensure respectful interaction between players.

Bug fixes and gameplay tweaks
A notable fix has been implemented for Neon, where her hit area would inaccurately shift during certain movements.
An issue in Premier matches preventing players from initiating a timeout vote after switching sides during extra time has also been fixed.
Icebox map added to Valorant console version
Icebox, a favourite of many PC players, is now available on the console version of Valorant. This addition is part of Riot’s commitment to ensuring parity across platforms and providing all players with the same strategic options.

Basic Training and Shooting Range now available on console
Both Basic Training and the Shooting Range, previously available on PC, are now available to console players. New players must complete Basic Training, which includes an optional bot training match to help them become familiar with the game’s mechanics. Existing players can access these features from the Training menu.

In-Game Combat Report Update
An updated in-game combat report is now displayed by default during the purchase phase. Players have the flexibility to toggle this report on or off, providing critical information to make strategic decisions during matches.

Voice chat control shortcuts on console scoreboards
With the new update, console players can now use in-game scoreboard shortcuts to mute other players or easily switch voice channels, mirroring the functionality available on PC.

Competitive, Unrated, Spike Rush and Deathmatch Modes
Riot Games has confirmed that the Icebox map will be available in Competitive, Unrated, Spike Rush and Deathmatch modes, giving players a greater variety of gameplay.

General improvements
The update also addresses various bugs and performance issues across all systems, from gameplay mechanics to weapon performance, significantly improving the experience on consoles as well as on PC.

This comprehensive update reflects Riot Games’ ongoing efforts to refine Valorant across all platforms and maintain a balanced, engaging, and respectful competitive environment for its global player base.
